Two Bottles. Maximum Height 45cm

Gilda Westermann's simple fine white porcelain objects combine both the natural and the classical.

The beautiful lines of each vessel lucidly flow and grow, while the characteristic shell imprint stamps a moment  in time on each piece.

Westermann's pieces evoke a magical combination of nature and space with crisp detail.  Each piece works with its own balance, being a creation with its own character.

To Westermann nature is an ancient and divine inspirer.

Working with the elements: earth, air, fire and water, the maker can be a transformer, an alchemist.

Through her work Westermann awakens the senses and celebrates.

"I dedicate my work to the spirits of the earth, who give to us so generously.  May I receive their gifts with gratitude, wisdom and joy.  May I receive their teachings with an open heart.  May whatever comes out of it be of benefit to all sentient beings.  Namaste."

Technique and Product Range

Westermann's ceramics are made from porcelain fired to high temperature, 1280C.  The domestic range includes mugs, bowls and jugs - one off piece platters, vases and bottles.

The porcelain is covered with a transparent glaze like a thin wash of glass.  In the fusion of materials new qualities are created, sensual to touch and of warm creamy colour tone.

Grouped, in relationship, present in space, Westermann's work explores the theme of composition.
